Cross Strand

The Cross Spring is not the oldest spring, but it has achieved the greatest fame of all the Marian springs. In 1749, Damián Schulz, a pharmacist from Teplice, built a high cross near the Salty Spring and since then the spring has been called the Cross Spring. The pavilion of the Cross Spring was built between 1818 and 1826 and is thus one of the oldest surviving buildings in the town. It was built according to a plan by architect Jiri Fischer and local builder Antonin Thurner.
The spring is strongly mineralized with a laxative effect. It is used in the treatment of diseases of the digestive tract, metabolism and also in allergic diseases that are conditioned by digestive disorders.
